How to create a custom dakimakura cover

A custom dakimakura cover puts your chosen artwork on a pillow case. Prepare the original files, choose the size and fabric, and check both sides carefully before ordering. A little attention to the crop now can prevent disappointment later.

1. Start with the original artwork

Use artwork you created, commissioned with permission to print, or otherwise have permission to reproduce. Export the largest original version you have. Avoid screenshots, social-media downloads and repeated compression when a better source is available.

JPEG, PNG and WebP are practical choices for the browser crop preview. If your original is a layered or specialist file, keep it available and ask us which version to upload. Inspect the file before uploading. Look for blurry faces, stray marks, distorted hands, unwanted text and missing details. If the source was generated with AI, check small features especially carefully. Enlarging the image alone will not necessarily correct them.

2. Choose your size and fabric

Match the cover size to your insert, then select the material by the feel you prefer. Our size guide and fabric comparison can help you make those choices.

Check the available options and price on the custom product page. A different size may need a different crop, so settle the size before your final artwork check.

3. Check the front and back separately

  • Upload the artwork for each side and confirm the correct file appears in each preview.
  • Check the head, feet and other important details are inside the intended composition.
  • Leave space around important details near the edges; the screen preview does not guarantee an exact seam position.
  • If your artwork is much wider than the cover, consider a custom blanket or custom tapestry. Their wider formats can preserve more of your composition without cropping away important details. Check the available sizes and preview to find the best fit. For a tapestry, choose artwork without nudity, as nudity cannot be printed on that product.
  • Recheck both sides after changing the size or replacing a file.

If a design depends on precise edge placement, ask us to check it before ordering. Keep the original files available in case we need a better source.

4. Decide whether enhancement is useful

Keep this option when you do not want an enhancement service added. Check the source image is suitable for the selected print size.

Standard Upscale

An enlargement option for an image that needs more pixels. It should not be treated as a repair for incorrect artwork.

Premium + Pro Artist Retouch

After premium upscaling, our artist redraws important details and removes artifacts. We email the result so you can approve it or request a revision before printing. Discuss specific changes you need before ordering.

Enhancement can improve a source, but cannot guarantee recovery of detail that was never present. Upload the original file rather than repeatedly upscaling it yourself. If you are unsure which option will help, ask us to assess the image first.

5. Make one final check

Confirm the size, fabric, front image, back image and enhancement selection. Read the current product and service descriptions for what is included and any approval steps. Keep your order confirmation so you can refer to the order number if you need help.
